Intimate Romance: A Wedding at The 1909 Wedding Venue in Topanga


Hidden in the trees of Topanga Canyon, The 1909 wedding venue is easily one of the most magical places to get married in Southern California. It offers a beautiful, peaceful escape from the city. Photographing this sweet couple's big day at this wooded paradise was an absolute joy for me.


As a Los Angeles film wedding photographer, I love capturing the unique energy of spaces like this. The towering trees, winding paths, and bohemian charm provided the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable celebration.


The Magic of Shooting on Film and Digital


For this gallery, I used a hybrid approach. I shot a blend of clean digital images and timeless analog film. Film has an incredible way of capturing raw emotion and natural textures. You can see the film magic in the close-up, black-and-white portraits of the couple hugging, and the grainy shot of them holding hands as they walked through the trees. Film brings out the rich greenery of Topanga Canyon and the delicate lace details on the bride's veil in a way digital simply cannot match. It makes the entire wedding gallery feel like a collection of family heirlooms.

The style of this day was effortlessly elegant. The bride looked absolutely stunning in an off-the-shoulder, sleek white gown. Her long, dark wavy hair was styled beautifully, flowing under a classic veil. The groom looked incredibly sharp in a deep navy tuxedo with a classic black bow tie. My favorite part of the day was how relaxed and fun the couple was. They even included their adorable little dogs in the celebration, holding them closely at the reception table!From getting ready glimpses through the window to a high-energy dance floor filled with flashing colorful lights and laughter, nothing felt forced or staged. I focused entirely on documentary-style storytelling, capturing real memories as they naturally unfolded.
